Every gamer expected that Activision's creation, Black Ops 2, to sell like hot cakes, but the current performance is probably the biggest entertainment launch of the year, after revealing a return of $500m during day-one of sales.

According to Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, the Call of Duty franchise has exceeded worldwide performance of Harry Potter and Star Wars, for instance, the two most successful movie franchises of all time.
Activision said that millions of fans attended more than 16,000 midnight openings at retail stores worldwide. In its first 24 hours, Black Ops 2 was a trending topic on Twitter in 23 cities worldwide, much more the game's launch trailer has drawn the attention of more than 30 million YouTube views, since its release on October 29.
